Summary:
Under the direction of the die shop manager manages the production to insure that company policies, procedures and standards are being adhered to.
Plans and organizes the workload so as to utilize most efficiently the personnel and equipment in order to maintain high quality production.
Work Performed:
>Establishes goals for meeting productions schedules.
>Develops new techniques and procedures in collaboration with manager.
>Plans work and helps plan capacity to meet schedule>Coordinate through maintenance for repair work as needed.
>Coordinate with scheduling work load and release>Prepares and approves sick leave requests and special pay notices.
>Assigns team members to jobs.
>Works with team members on way to improve time on setup/run time on tooling.
>Evaluates team members performance routinely to recognize efficiency and act on improvements.
>Trains new hires and other on new jobs.
>Supervises Die Shop production across all shifts.
> Works with and motivates employees to produce high quality dies.
>Assists in disposition of grievances.
>Works with the day/night supervisor to set a schedule for on time die completion.
>Assist with design new, or improved existing fixtures and tooling to increase efficiency.
>Works under general direction of Die Shop manager.
>Collaborates with Engineering dept on changes and improvements to tooling.
>Collaborates with CNC programmers on improvements/techniques to cutter paths.
>Works with vendors on tooling issues.
Engineering Functions:
>Works with Die Shop Manager and provides technical support.
>Assists in providing Die/Tool costing on new products.
>Executes direction and technical expertise to Die Design Engineer and drafting personnel in the design of new product dies and associated tooling.
>Assists in approval process of design of Dies and Tooling and for performance improvements.
Die Shop Functions:
>Makes recommendations for efficiency in Tool and Die making>Facilitates all outside vendors for die sinking, repairs, and etc>Works closely with Die Shop Supervisors in technical support capacity and finds solutions to problems as necessary.
Forge Shop Functions:
>Reviews all dies and tools post production and determines status.
>Executes training initiatives for all die shop team memembers>Solves die breakage problems and identifies area to improve up time in the Forge Dept.
>Investigates forging die and tool problems as well as forging designs for improvements.
General Functions and Involvement:
>Involved in problem solving activites with other plant departments.
>Active in Lean Manufacturing and its processes.
