Joy Global (formerly P&H Mining LeTourneau Technologies) based out of Longview, Texas and operates with approximately 1000 employees. Our Mining & Steel Products Divisions are recognized as an industry leader in a global group of best-in-class organizations specializing in the design, manufacture, implementation, and effective use of advanced technologies for mining and steel markets. Our Longview location is currently hiring a Buyer I to join the team.
Responsibilities:

Strives for continuous improvement in worker safety and is dedicated to ensuring that each employee understands, and acts in accordance with, the companys HSE policies.
Works with high integrity and complies with corporate guidelines on business ethics.
Initiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, and/or special tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; close coordination with plant engineering to assure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
Works closely with other departments as required to advance enterprise-wide sourcing programs as appropriate.
Maintains awareness of market prices and trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities and advises upper management.
Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, inventory control and management, negotiates prices and delivery terms with guidance from upper management for assigned responsibilities.
Coordinates the planning of current schedules and inventory control parameters for the assigned products and services consistent with LeTourneaus requirements or as arranged with requisitioners.
Coordinates, as appropriate, quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers.
Reviews production schedule and manufacturing orders to ensure that components and services are available in a timely manner.
Generates manufacturing orders to meet the requirements of the production schedule.
Maintains finished goods inventories at the level specified from product forecasts.
Coordinates with appropriate manufacturing personnel the solution to problems related to the Production Schedule, such as material shortage status, rejection, scrap, re-work, etc.
Analyzes material shortages, review order progress, and adjust plans and schedules as
Qualifications:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; and 0-2 years related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
