HIV Prevention Specialist
The HIV Prevention Specialist will provide HIV prevention activities to ensure HIV Prevention services are provided to persons at greatest risk of aquiring and/or transmitting HIV infection. These activities will include 1) targeted testing/counseling & linkage to care; 2) Condom Distribution; and 3) Prevention with Positives. The goal of these activities are to reduce undiagnosed and late diagnosed HIV infection, ensure linkage to care, provide strategic risk reduction, prevention, and support services to persons living with HIV, and promote the expansion of targeted condom distribution. The HIV Prevention Specialist must be very knowledgeable on STDs, HIV, substance abuse and other public health services. Position must not only be able to influence patients, but must be able to provide training to influence behavior. Position requires familiarity with community resources in order to conduct referrals to services including; substance abuse treatment, STD/TB Clinics, and other services. Must have reliable transportation to support program activities. May be required to transport clients. Must adhere to the Code Of Ethical Conducet For Prevention Professionals.
Qualifications
o Must have a Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of four years in job related experience.
o Requires a valid Texas Driver's License, appropriate driving record and auto liablility insurance that meets the minimum required by State of Texas statute.
o Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.
o Knowledge of HIV prevention principles preferred.
o Requires experience providing counseling, rapid testing, and education services to targeted populations.
o Must be willing to work a flex schedule that includes weekends and evenings.
