Vintage Leo Master 5-string Banjo with Case and Patent for sale in Longview, TX

1 of 1
Being sold on consignment... Leo Master 5-string banjo with hard case. It features a full thickness wood rim which produces a very good, warm tone. The maple neck is what I would call "full profile", but definitely not clubby IMO. All of the parts seem to be very good quality. The workmanship is what I'd call good but not pro quality. The tailpiece is a unpunched Grover Patent Presto. I'm told by the owner that it's worth over $100 alone. If the banjo were mine, I'd probably change the tuning pegs to something with a slightly better fit. They definitely work as-is though. There is a filler piece added between the neck heel and the tension hoop. It has a maple resonator attached that is easily removed if so desired. This banjo would be suitable for 3-finger style or even better (IMO) as an open back for clawhammer or old-time playing. Not fancy or expensive but it would be just fine for a player just starting out, or even as a camping/travel instrument for someone more experienced. For playability, the action is approx.1/8" at the 12th fret/3rd string using the Grover non-tip bridge. It will come shipped in the older, sturdy hardcase as pictured. I will send it via UPS Ground, fully insured. Asking $395 or best reasonable offer.

Great EQ, only problem is that it's been sitting around too long. Purchased it for a backup. However my back is out, so I stopped a long time ago. Also the perfect eq for a musicians home stereo. Lost boxes and manuals a long time ago, sure the manual can be downloaded or ordered from the company....
